Control

I Chronicles 29:11 (KJV) Says, "Thine, O Lord, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty; for all that is in the Heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O Lord, and thou art exalted as head above all."  Proverbs 15:29 (KJV) Says, "The Lord is far from the wicked: but He heareth the prayer of the righteous."

If we could control everything in life, then we could rid ourselves of  the things that cause us stress by simply correcting them. The fact is, however, there are many things in life that we can't control, and trying to do so is a complete waste of our time. Attempting to control things we can't control only serves to make us restless, upset, unhappy, depressed, angry, sleep deprived, and when taken to the extreme, physically ill. We can bring all of these negative emotions on without ever accomplishing anything in the way of resolving whatever it is that we are trying to control.

I don't know about you, but in the past I've been guilty of trying to control situations that I had no control over. In my attempts at doing so, I sacrificed every ounce of peace and joy I had. Looking back, I can tell you that not only did I see no positive results from my efforts, but I spent a great deal of time being miserable. We can allow issues that are beyond our control to consume us.  For instance, you may have loved ones or friends in your life that you feel are making choices that will lead them down the wrong road, and you are tirelessly trying to re-route them. You may have a family member or a friend that is an addict, and you continually beg, and plead with them to get help all to no avail. Maybe you had a relationship you felt would last forever only to have a spouse, boyfriend or girlfriend walk out on you. You may be living in constant fear that your place of employment is going to close down leaving you without a job. The list of uncontrollable issues that we may face goes on and on.

Although it's true that there are things in our life that we can't control, we can control how we choose to deal with them. The first step we need to take after having done all we can in any situation, is to recognize the fact that we have done all we can.  The second step is to turn the matter over to someone who is in control of everything, and that is our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. If you are concerned about someone you love pray for them everyday. If you are in pain because a longtime relationship ended, or you have been betrayed by a friend or co-worker, pray about it everyday. If you are concerned about any situation pray about it everyday. The above scripture from I Chronicles reminds us that God is exalted, and that he is head above all. There is nothing in all of creation that God cannot do. We are talking about God who is so mighty and powerful that as we are told in Mark 4:41 (KJV) even the wind and the seas obey Him. Go to God in prayer with the issues that are troubling you, give them to Him, ask for His help with them, and leave them with Him. The above scripture from Proverbs tells us that He hears the prayers of the righteous. He is there waiting to hear from you, to help you, and to take your troubles from you. Remember He is your Heavenly Father, and he loves you tremendously.

If you are attempting to control the uncontrollable and have lost the peace and joy you once had in your life,  I urge to go to God in prayer, and surrender everything to Him. Don't waste precious time worrying over has control over the things you have no control over. Trust God, and find comfort in knowing that His Word is truth, and that He has never made a promise He hasn't kept, and that He can do all things even those that to us appear impossible.

If you have a prayer request and would like me to pray for you, leave me a message and I will be more than happy to do so. May God bless you.
